Charles Nathan OLIVER

Charles (Charlie) Nathan Oliver, 63, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 18, 2021.  He was born August 16, 1957 in Louisville, Kentucky to Charles and Alice Oliver.  He was a proud graduate of Dayton Jefferson High School class of 1976.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy and Army.  Charlie traveled extensively throughout the United States as a truck driver.  He retired from the profession he loved as his health began to decline.

Charlie was a star athlete. He loved playing on Jefferson’s basketball team; however, he excelled in track and field.  In track, he threw the discus and shot put, prevailing in the discus.  In 1975 and 1976, he placed second in the discus state finals of Ohio class AA schools; however, in 1975, the class AA schools’ top two finishers outthrew the class AAA discus throwers which placed him second among all discus throwers in the state of Ohio.  Charlie held the Welcome Stadium record for the best discus thrower in Dayton, Ohio for several years before his record was broken.     

He loved listening to various genres of music, playing chess and was a great dancer.  If you knew Charlie, the party did not start until he arrived, as he had all the dance moves.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Oliver; and sister, Rosiland Oliver Reed.  He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Alice Oliver Coleman, children:  Ebony Stephens and Aaron (Natea) Stephens; brothers:  Orville (Julia) Oliver, Keith (Gail) Oliver, and William (Marie) Oliver; sisters:  Linda Oliver, Cynthia (Marvin) Mitchell, and Caprice Coleman; grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.  A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, April 2, 2021 at All Nations Bible Fellowship, 3805 Kings Hwy., Dayton, OH.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of service.
