McCURDY, Mr. Curtis Glenn, 83 of 958 Wilmington Ave, Apartment 403 Dayton, Ohio died after a courageous battle from pancreatic cancer at his home on July 31, 2021. Curtis was born in October 1938 in Johnstown, PA.
Curtis was a veteran of the United States Navy in 1956 and served proudly on the USS Independence. After 4 years of service, he held jobs as a security guard and short order cook until his retirement. Curtis is survived by his devoted sister’s in Pennsylvania, Matilda Shirley, and Georgieann Dettinburn. He is also survived by a brother, Buddy McCurdy, Tennessee. He has two nieces, Meria Flecha of PA and R. Pecher, CT. and one nephew, Jimmy McCurdy, KY. He is loved and remembered by his devoted friend, companion and neighbor, Vicki Eason as well as dear friend and neighbor, Bill Rasnake.
Curtis as preceded in death by mother, Silver Gay Cramer, in 1941 and his father Curtis McCurdy in 1990.
Curtis had a fondness for pugs and sharpei dogs, and the NY Yankees. He was an avid fisherman until his declining health. He loved sitting outdoors and socializing with his friends and neighbors. Curtis was known for having a ready smile and positive demeanor even during his intense chemo treatments of which he never complained. He loved volunteering and helping anyone whenever needed. Curtis loved serving his country and traveling overseas. He had many stories for his friends and family about his Navy life and travels.
