Deacon Harry Evans, Jr. departed his life peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Ohio’s Hospice. He was born on June 28, 1937, in Fountain City, Indiana to the late Harry Evans, Sr. and Nora Bryant. He attended Roosevelt High School and graduated class of 1955. He married Ella L. Johnson in 1959 and from that union, had four children. He later married Malfalda (Mac) George Andrews in 1995.Harry served in the Army National Guards for three years and received an honorable discharged in 1963. He retired from General Motors in 1998 after 36 years of employment. He was a faithful Cleveland Browns fan and participated in softball, bowling and golf. He was an elite and competitive bowler for various leagues in the city, including the Strikers League where he was inducted in the American Bowling Congress. He was also a member of the Dayton Municipal Golf Course. He was a faithful member at Freedom Hill Bible Church where he served as deacon under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Terry Hill until he was no longer able to attend due to health issues. He leaves to cherish his memories, daughter, Cynthia L. (Mark) Moon; sons, Harry (Amanda) Evans, III, Roger (Megan) Evans of Dayton, Ohio; and Robert Evans of Cincinnati, Ohio; special nieces, Pamela (Calvin) Beatty-Cupitt of Ypsilanti, Michigan; and Sandra (Damon) Marshall of Dayton, Ohio; special friend of 23 years, Ms. Alice (Cakes) Taylor of Dayton, Ohio; bonus daughters, Regina (Fred) Williams of Dayton, Ohio, Trina Johnson, of Fairborn, Ohio; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, devoted wife of 25 years, Mafalda Evans, whom he loved dearly, three brothers, Roger Dale Beatty, Robert Gail Beatty, and Fred Evans, daughter, Elizabeth (Fatz) Davis, and son, George (Bucky) Chinn. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 21, 2023 at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 2242 No. Gettysburg Ave., Pastor Renard Allen, Jr., Rev. Dr. Terry Hill, officiation. Visitation one hour prior to service.
