Joshua Pettit Obituary

Joshua Thomas Pettit, age 51, of Dayton, Ohio, peacefully completed his earthly journey at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born on June 7, 1974, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Patricia Price Pettit and William R. Beeman Sr.

Joshua’s life was marked by kindness, laughter, and a deep sense of compassion for others. Those who knew him will always remember his warm spirit and his signature “Kool-Aid smile,” a smile that could light up any room and make everyone around him feel welcome. To know Joshua was truly to love him.

A talented and creative soul, Joshua had a passion for art and spent many hours drawing and expressing himself through his sketches. His natural gift for creativity brought him joy and peace, and he often shared his work with family and friends. Joshua was also an avid sports enthusiast who especially loved basketball. Whether he was watching a game or shooting hoops himself, the sport always brought out his competitive yet joyful nature.

Joshua was educated through Dayton Public Schools and proudly graduated from Patterson Co-Op High School. He carried the lessons learned during those formative years throughout his life, always valuing friendship, loyalty, and integrity.

Joshua’s final act of generosity was through organ and tissue donation, a selfless gesture that has already helped save and heal the lives of many others — a lasting reflection of his compassionate and giving heart.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Patricia Price Pettit, father William R. Beeman Sr., stepmother Henrietta Beeman, sister Georgena Groves, and brothers William R. Beeman Jr. and Timothy Beeman.

Joshua leaves to cherish his memory his loving brothers Willie Beeman and William (Tony) Beeman, both of Dayton, Ohio; and his devoted sisters Evangelist Jocelyn McGuire of Columbus, Ohio, Cheryl McNeil, and Cynthia Ford, both of Dayton, Ohio. He will also be remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends who will forever carry his light in their hearts.

Joshua’s presence brought warmth and joy to those blessed to know him, and his memory will continue to inspire love, laughter, and compassion in all who were touched by his life.
