Marcus Lawrence Herring-Grooms

Marcus Lawrence Herring-Grooms was born on January 22, 1992, and departed this life on April 4, 2026.

Marcus was preceded in death by his father, Talbert Grooms; his grandmother, Deborah Herring; and his great-grandmother, Marjorie Herring.

Marcus was more than just a man — he was a protector, provider, husband, father, and a real one in every sense. If you knew him, you knew he stood on loyalty, love, and respect. He didn’t play about the people he loved, and they didn’t play about him. His presence was strong, his love was real, and his impact will never be forgotten.

Marcus shared a deep, unbreakable bond with his wife — a love built from knowing each other since childhood, growing together, and standing beside each other through every up and down. Their love was real, solid, and rare — the kind that doesn’t fold.

He was a devoted and loving father whose children meant everything to him. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Areale Herring-Grooms; his mother, Tonya Herring; his children: Jai’Von, Marques, Kai’Shawn, Elon, Amari, Honesty, Kamora, and his unborn son, Marcus Jr., who will carry his name and legacy forward; his bonus children, Brian and Brianna; his sisters, Jasmine and Nia; a host of siblings; his special sister, Tata; and a host of family and friends who loved him deeply.

To know Marcus was to know strength, laughter, protection, and real love. His name will forever live on through his children, his family, and everyone blessed to know him.
