Michele Doreen Peeks

Ms. Michele Doreen Peeks (Hurst), age 69, passed away Friday, October 20, 2023 after an automobile accident.  She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to her late parents George Moore and Mary Hurst.  She graduated from Ottowa High School in 1972 and went on to work as a Recreation supervisor at Dayton Job Corp Center for 32 years. She married the late Michael W Peeks and together they had one daughter, Melita D Peeks. Michele was a dedicated teacher, and she touched the lives of countless students during her long and fulfilling career at Job Corps.  She enjoyed Arts and crafts of any sort and recently ran Michele’s Balloon Creations. She will be remembered for her dedication to those around her and her warm demeanor. Michele is survived by her daughter, Melita  D Peeks; grandchildren, Niah L Chivers, Jordan W. and Jalynn N. Fields; Sisters, Darnese Hunter, Adrennia Kelly, Terri Gates, Denise Lester, all of Grand Rapids, Michigan; God Mom Bobbi Butler, also of Grand Rapids, Michigan; several other family members and many friends. Memorial Service 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2023 at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 3426 West Second Street, with the Pastor Therman C. Sampson, II, officiating.
