Mildred Marie Pou entered eternal rest peacefully on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. She was born June 24, 1929 in Waynesboro, Mississippi to the late David P. Warren and Lee Girtha Raines Warren.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist church in Waynesboro, where her father served as Deacon and her mother played piano.
Over the years, her mother taught her to become an avid seamstress, sewing clothes for her siblings and children. She also perfected crocheting and knitting. Mildred loved cooking, baking and eating! Her specialty was pound cake.
While in Mississippi, she was introduced by her brother Eddie to the love of her life, Milton Pou, who served in the U.S. Army. In 1953, they were married and soon moved to Dayton, OH, where they raised their family. They often traveled back and forth to Mississippi and other adventures including cruises, camping and flying.
After an extensive search, Mildred found her church home at Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist church where she remained a member until present. It has played an integral part in building her walk of faith through the years. Due to failing health, she was no longer able to attend in person service. She worked in hospitality for the Veterans Administration hospital and retired after over 15 years of service.
Mildred was the last surviving member of the union of David and Lee Girtha Warren. She was the eldest child. Mildred is preceded in death by her 6 siblings: Prince Warren, Emma Shepherd, Sarah Barnes, Peggy Turner, Eddie C. Warren and David Frederick Warren.
She is survived by son, Erasmus C. Pou, daughters, Glenda J. Williams, Kimberly M. Wilson, stepdaughter, Jane Ellen Ellis, grandchildren, Katoya Wilson, Kyra Wilson, Regina Harrison, Romero Pou, Randall Pou and Alex Pou, great granddaughter Kyrie Wilson and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends.
Mildred was truly a beautiful spirit whose desire was to always put a smile on anyone’s face. Her kisses, laughter and smile were felt by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed. We are so thankful for the time we and others have had with her. We release her to God for we know that we will see her again.
Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation one hour prior. Interment: West Memory Gardens MASK MUST BE WORN FOR SERVICES
