Raymond (Raymie) Ben Engle Sr., of Dayton, Ohio—born on January 12, 1960—passed away on August 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with illness.
He is lovingly survived by his son, Raymond Jr., his daughter-in-law Kimberly, and their three children—Lucy, Patrick, and Nora; his daughter, Sheena Smith, his son-in-law Aaron, and their daughter, Ava; as well as his former wife, Carleen Hall. He also leaves behind his parents, William and Sue Engle, and his siblings: Michael, William Jr., Robert, Timothy, and Diane, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
Raymie was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Elaine Engle, and his daughter-in-law, Jodie Engle.
Raymie was a devoted worker who built his life around his trade as an HVAC technician in the Dayton area. Known for his remarkable skill with sheet metal and tools, he approached his work with both craftsmanship and creativity. His ability to build complex heating and air systems, often by hand and in astonishing time, was a true reflection of his talent and dedication. Through his career, he formed lasting friendships with coworkers, clients, and business owners who deeply respected and admired him.
Family was at the center of Raymie’s life. As the “big brother,” he carried a strong presence—always ready with a joke, a story, or advice. He loved gathering with family at cookouts and holidays, where his warmth, humor, and easy laughter made him the heart of the moment. Though not a man of great wealth, he gave generously of himself, always working to provide and care for those he loved.
Raymie will be deeply missed. His determined spirit, his mischievous spark of rebellion, his kind heart, and his unforgettable laugh will live on in the memories of all who knew and loved him.
A memorial is planned for October, with details to be shared by the family through social media. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you hold Raymie and his loved ones in your thoughts as they navigate this time of loss.
