Ricardo Rodriguez Obituary

Ricardo Rodriguez, affectionately known as Ricco, was born on October 26, 1961, in Manhattan, New York. Of proud Puerto Rican descent, he brought joy, warmth, and affection to everyone fortunate enough to know him. With his vibrant personality, cheerful spirit, and unwavering devotion to fatherhood, Ricco left an indelible mark on countless lives. It is with deep sorrow that we gather to honor and celebrate the life of a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, friend, and so much more.

From an early age, Ricco lived with a zest for adventure. He enjoyed playing football, soccer, and other sports, and also served as an altar boy at the Catholic Church during his childhood. Spanish was his first language, though he gradually lost proficiency over time. Following his adoption, Ricco learned English and excelled in school, where he made the honor roll and became a standout football player in high school.

After graduation, Ricco continued his education at Dutchess Community College in Fairview, New York, where he earned his journeyman’s license in plumbing. Soon after, he entered the workforce and celebrated one of the greatest blessings of his life—the birth of his first daughter, Angelina, whom he adored.

Throughout his life, Ricco’s adventurous spirit often led him to new places, with Florida and Georgia being among his favorite states. While in Georgia, he welcomed his son, Ricci. Later, Ricco settled in Ohio, where he continued his work in plumbing and electrical trades while forming lifelong friendships, just as he had everywhere he lived. It was in Ohio that he welcomed his two youngest daughters, Savannah and Selena, and built a life filled with family and love.

Fatherhood was Ricco’s greatest joy and deepest passion. He delighted in naming his children, being present for their births, and proudly raising them with love and encouragement. He was a man who embraced challenges, faced life with humor, and never missed an opportunity to express his affection—not only to his children and family, but also to friends and even strangers.

Ricco’s life was one of resilience, love, and laughter. He will be forever cherished by his daughters, Angelina, Savannah, and Selena; his stepdaughters, Chris’Shae, Chris’Chelle, and Cei’Ara; his grandchildren, Amina, Andraya, and Nazaria; his niece, Londynn; the mothers of his children, Shalonda (James) and Serena (Jay); his honorary mother-in-law, Saundra (Buddy); his honorary sister-in-law, Shalamar; as well as numerous cousins, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives he touched.

He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Ricci; his soulmate, Dee Dee; his mother, Angela; his father; and many other cherished family members and cousins.

As we say goodbye to Ricco, we remember the love he gave so freely, the joy he brought into every room, and the lessons he shared through his courage and kindness. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his daughters, grandchildren, and all who knew him. May his fearless spirit and unwavering love continue to guide and inspire us for generations to come.
