Robert Jeffrey Simmons (Bobby) was born on December 8, 1955 in Stamford, CT to the late Arthur and Adelaide Simmons. He was the second eldest of four children and the eldest son. Robert grew up in Stamford, CT graduating from Westhill High School. He attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA and received his Bachelors Degree in Accounting.
Robert worked for a number of accounting firms including Price Waterhouse before he relocated to the Dayton, OH area in the late 80’s.
Robert always enjoyed cooking and his hobby became more of a vocation in Ohio. He cooked in a number of restaurants including his brother Peter’s establishment, Evan’s Cafe, and at the Salvation Army Kroc Center in Dayton.
Robert accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and attended services at the Salvation Army Kroc Center and Target Dayton Ministries, a non-profit ministry to the poor and homeless in the inner-city of Dayton. There he volunteered his time and talents to lead the cooking for a variety of events including Thanksgiving Dinner for many, many years.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, Jo-Ann Simmons of Westport, CT; brothers Eric Simmons of Bridgeport, CT, Peter Simmons (Pamela) of Englewood, OH; his niece, Erica Simmons of Cincinnati, OH; his nephew Evan Simmons, of Dallas, TX; and, his great nephew, Ezra Arthur Garrison of Cincinnati, OH.
