Obituary

Shatawn Lanay Benson was born in Dayton, Ohio to David and Denise Gibson. She passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at the age of 50 years old.

She attended Colonel White High School, later on completed her GED and went on to received her license as a nail technician.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Cam’ron Crishon Brown; her parents, David and Denise Gibson; grandparents, Calvin, Sr. and Nannie Benson; a sister, Katina Benson; uncle, Norvell Benson; aunt and uncle, Deborah and Eddie Bush.

Shatawn is survived and will be missed by her daughter, Janay Benson; her three sons, Michael Benson, Tyron Martin, and Leonard (Jasmine) Brown; two sisters, Donyelle Benson and Michelle Hicks; one brother, David Benson, Jr; eight grandchildren; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and may friends.

Funeral Service 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 14, 2022 at Harvest Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 3323 Highview Hills with Pastor Ronald Ford, officiating. Visitation with family one hoour prior to service. MASK MUST BE WORN AT THESE SERVICES
