Sheila Taylor, age 64, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and the comforting embrace of her faith. A woman of deep conviction, boundless compassion, and unwavering strength, Sheila devoted her life to healing, ministry, and service to others. Ordained as a minister in 1994, Sheila served as a Drug and Alcohol Recovery Minister for five years at the Jesus Houses for Men and Women. Her calling to help others on their path to recovery led her to pursue higher education, earning three associate degrees—her most recent in Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counseling. She also served as a Drug and Alcohol Abuse Technician, bringing wisdom, empathy, and guidance to countless individuals on their journey to healing. Beyond her professional life, Sheila found joy in the simple, meaningful pleasures of life. She loved to cook for her family, spent countless hours immersed in adult coloring books with her cherished collection of markers, and surrounded herself with hundreds of self-help and Christian books that nurtured her spirit and faith. Sheila was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ike Brown of Tallassee, AL, and Annie Taylor of Dayton, OH, and her siblings Fannie Brown, Robert Brown, Johnnie Taylor, Will Taylor, and James Taylor. She leaves behind a large and loving family. On her father’s side: siblings Gaston Brown, Richard Brown, Pinky Brown, and Nillie Brown, all of Tallassee, AL. On her mother’s side: siblings Jannie Watson, Linda Taylor, Anthony Taylor, Leonard Taylor, and Brian Taylor. She was a devoted mother to Miosha Carter, Miesha Brownlee, and Deidre Torbert, and a proud grandmother to Michaela Carter, Makiah Henderson, Ladarius Torbert, Aquajia Torbert, Zyion Sanders, and Omarion Hoffman. She also leaves behind her loving fiancé, Robert Hudson, and many nieces and nephews who will deeply miss her warmth, encouragement, and generous heart. Sheila's life was a shining example of faith, love, and resilience. Her legacy as a minister, mentor, and guiding light will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
