Sonya Kendrick was born April 14, 1971 in Dayton, Ohio to Cynthia Burg and Charles Hardy. She departed this life June 8, 2024 at the age of 53. Sonya was educated in the Dayton Public School System and graduated from Colonel White High School, where she ran track. She further her education at Tennessee University, where she continued to run track. In 1993 Sonya became a mother to her beautiful daughter, Isis, followed by her loving son, DeAndre. She loved her children and grandchildren more than anything. Sonya was a fun-loving person who had a huge heart. She showed her love by working with children at a day care center and also receiving her STNA license and worked in home care taking care of people. Sonya had a true love for all her family. And was definitely right there if you needed her. She was loved and missed by many. Sonya is preceded in death by her parents, her maternal and paternal grandparents. Sonya leaves behind her daughter, Isis Kendrick; son, DeAndre Caldwell; her grandchildren, Brian, LeAl, Liam, DeAuni; her brothers, Michael (Tia), Charles, Billie (Sara) Derrick; sisters, Letese and Margarita; Mom Gelinda, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other friend and relatives. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Gateway Missionary Baptist Church, 930 Steele Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, with Pastor J. B. Hairston, officiating. Visitation one hour prior to service.
