Toby Moore, Sr. Obituary

Toby LaMar Moore, Sr., age 46, of Dayton, Ohio, departed this life to be with the Lord on April 29, 2023. Toby was born on October 27, 1976 in Dayton, Ohio to Julian Pope and Helen Moore. Toby attended Jefferson High School in Dayton, Ohio. He was a skilled laborer trained to do many jobs. Being a man of many talents, sports was his favorite. He prided himself as a very good baseball player, but out of all the loves and pride in the world, nothing came close to the pride and love that he had for his sons, Toby Jr. (TJ), Tomarri (Dunnie), and Ta’lon (Lon Lon). Toby loved his sons to the moon and back. There wasn’t a game or event that went by that you wouldn’t see Toby, alongside Nana, Auntie, Uncle, and Dominique cheering on and supporting his boys. He not only loved his sons, but he loved all the children in the neighborhood, and acted as uncle to many. Toby was a big kid himself. If there was a party, you can bet that he was the life of it! Let there be any kind of football, basketball, or baseball game on the TV, and Toby and his boys would be in the living room yelling at the top of their voices! Toby loved helping others, no matter what the situation. He especially loved cooking with his mother. He would always be looking over her shoulder asking, “Mom, what’s that? Whatchu puttin in there?”. He once told his mother that he wanted to go to Culinary School and be another “Emeril Lagasse”. Toby was known by all to be a very giving, loving, and caring person. He was blessed with lots of love, and will be greatly missed by us all. Toby was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandfather; John Moore Jr., Paternal Grandparents; Julian and Viva Pope, Uncle; Alfonzo Moore, Aunt; Doris Alford, and Cousins; Aaron Jackson and Jason Alford Sr.. Toby leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Toby L. Moore Jr., Tomarri L. Moore, and Ta’lon L. Moore; mother, Helen Moore; father, Julian Pope; grandmother, Rocine Moore; sisters, Tora (Tony) Blackshear, Vickie Anderson, Marijana Anderson, Kandra Taylor; brother, Marlo Anderson; sister-in-law, Nicole Blackshear; aunts, Gloria Jackson, Sandra Podleszek, Charlotte Jones, Velva Hardaway, Brenda Pope, Bonita Curry; uncle, Boyaless (Sheree) Jones; niece, Natasia Anderson; nephews, Dominique Blackshear and Cre’shawn Haynes; 4 great-nephews, 1 great-niece, children’s mother, Hazel Martin, special friend, Linda Bankston, and a host of other family and friends.
