Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Sly Jr.; her daughters, Ashley Sly and Allyson Anderson; and her brother, Rodney Sly.
She will be remembered as a generous, loving woman whose joy for life was evident to all who knew her. A spirited line-dancing enthusiast, Wanda embraced every opportunity to celebrate life and bring joy to those around her. She embodied tremendous strength and courage, and her compassion and kindness touched the lives of many.
Wanda leaves to cherish her memory her devoted mother, Verper Sly; her son, DaShawn (Bianca) Sly of Columbus, Ohio; her daughter, Ronnesha Whitfield of Atlanta, Georgia; and her beloved grandchildren, Shaun, Melanie, ZaeDyen, Kori, A’Janae, and Charrod. She is also survived by her siblings, Charlie Sly III (Josie), Janice Dennis, Scotty Sly, Michelle (Andre) Sanders, and Felicia Sly, all of Dayton, Ohio; her cherished Aunt Bessie Figgers; her best friend, Cynthia; and a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will deeply miss her.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Kettering Dayton Hospital and Vitas Hospice for their exceptional care, compassion, and support given to Wanda and her loved ones.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Timothy Missionary Baptist Church, with a repast to follow.
